I studied fashion at the Portsmouth College of Art and after a short period of teaching became self employed with various craft businesses. I spent over 30 years in the West Country, moving back to Berkshire five years ago, and I am now able to paint full time. My inspiration is obtained from visiting different areas of England, the skies of Norfolk, hills of Cumbria, granite coast of Cornwall and the rolling hills of the Southdowns, with water, in various forms continuing to seep into much of my work. I try to capture the dramatic atmosphere in oils and acrylics as the light and colours change through the seasons.
I exhibit in the South of England, the West Country, and Norfolk, and take part in the West Berkshire Open Studios at Highclere in May. You can see more of my work at www.saa.co.uk/art/pearlhailstone.
